Friday 16 July Part 2: Children's Party

The Orphans' Party at the Women's Institute

Some of the children wearing the football tops and teeshirts sent by several sponsors back home

The children playing with some of the toys and games we brought from Scotland. The younger children loved the yoyos.

The divide between rich and poor in Malawi is great; Malawi is the 2nd highest country in the world in relation to the gap between rich and poor. The gap between the north and the south is also great with the south by far the richest.

  1. Thanks for the speedy reply, I wish BT were as quick!!!
Sad to say Fr Eugene Matthews died a few days ago with his funeral to be held on Thursday. Don't know what age he was but he was ordained in the 40's - a long time as a priest and an excellent priest at that.

  2. Hi Bernadette, we hope you and the clan are representing!! As usual it's always great to keep up to date with your Malawi experience, and we hope you're enjoying the trip. Can't believe you're home next week already. Looking forward to seeing you face-to-face to hear your stories once you've caught up with your sleep!

    See you soon.

  3. All quiet on the blog front, I hope that means you're exceptionally busy.
Good weather returned today, rain due tomorrow. Been up Ben Lomond today and good news -the BT engineer came to fix my fault - bad news it's still not working!

  4. Well, you're off again. This is becoming a habit and I heard today that Bernadette is on the move elsewhere.
Once again it's taken me ages to remember how to make a comment so this might not work.
I may not not be able to post as often as I would like. We're expecting a new arrival in the family and as the mother is staying with us we could be rather busy and pre-occupied very very soon.
I see from the latest newsletter that you are all hoping to develop relationships with the new members of staff - perhaps you could have worded that better!
Have a good and fruitful visit and we look forward to hearing of your exploits - keep away from mountain roads.
