Checking in and out

Monire mose,

Our team has now split with 6 going off to Zambia and 5 left in Mzuzu. The kids set off yesterday for a night in Lilongwe with Harris escorting them. I heard from them last night that they had arrived safely after an emotional farewell from their Malawian friends. It was eerily quiet in the house last night but the Malawi Gin helped us acclimatise to the unusual quietness. They were certainly a rowdy bunch!!

The 5 of us head off to Rhumpi today to spend 2 nights with good friend Fr. Chunda, coming back to Mzuzu on Saturday for the annual 5 hour Ordination Mass - the novelty is now wearing off!!

Pawemi,

Bernadette and the Malawi Team

Bernard W - we give up, what is B day and what is the big 4 0 you're celebrating? Also thank you for poining out the feast day of St. Benedict, which is now an important feast for me. Robert Johnston owes me a cake!! Haven't you heard my news?

  1. Now that the young ones have left, Bernadette, you'll have to earn your crust by writing.
You must have missed my first comment, we're to become grandparents again in 2 days now. Also made comment about your news in that first comment but I thought the system might wasn't up and running properly.
    40, certainly not my age!

  2. St Swithin's day today, hopefully it won't rain or we'll be having a wet August.
On the more official calandar it's the feast of St Bonaventure. For Primary teachers of a certain vintage who were sent to gorbals for a teaching p[ractice he was known as St Bonabl**dyventure!
We could do with a few of your ordination masses here.

Article in today's Herald (Glasgow not A&S) about the Uk withdrawing funding from Malawi. According to the report demonstrations are being suppressed, civil organisations are being intimated and goc bills are being passed to place restrictions on opponents. No doubt those who will suffer most, as usual, will be the poorest. Hope our friend sin Mzuzu are well.
    One day to 'B'day

  3. 'B' day has arrived and looks like passing uneventfully! Who would like a first name like "Our Lady of Mount Carmel"?
Hope you enjoyed your visit to Fr Chunda and i'm sure you'll enjoy the Ordination Mass.
By the way it rained yesterday so we can look forward to 40 wet days,

  4. Quiet time here - no blogs from Malawai so obviously not quiet there. Learnt today that the houses in the old school site are to be called 'St Michael's Wynd'
'B' day plus one and nothing happening.

  6. Now that you've left, Michael, the others must be letting their hair down - haven't heard a peep since you left.
